UPL Player of the Month: Wagoina, Omedi, and Kakande’s nominations are supported by their outstanding statistics

In the Uganda Premier League, the competition for the Player of the Month award for February is heating up with three top-performing players in the running.

Denis Omedi from Kitara FC, Jonah Patrick Kakande from SC Villa, and Isaac Wagoina from Express FC are the deserving nominees for the award.

Denis Omedi had an outstanding performance in February, scoring five goals in four games for the Royals. He started the month with a hat-trick against UPDF FC in Kitara’s 3-0 win.

He then scored in their 1-0 victories over Wakiso Giants and KCCA FC. Omedi’s goals were crucial in securing nine points for Kitara and lifting them to the top of the table with 39 points.

Jonah Patrick Kakande from SC Villa also put up a great show, scoring three goals in two UPL games.

He later withdrew from the Villa team to join the Uganda U20s team for the Ghana All Africa Games.

Kakande’s two goals against Maroons FC (2-1) and one at Kitara (1-1) were worth four points out of a possible six.

Isaac Wagoina from Express FC also had a remarkable performance, scoring three goals in three games. He netted once against KCCA as they lost 4-3, another in the 1-1 draw with Soltilo Bright Stars and a goal in their 3-1 win over UPDF.

His goals were worth a decent four points.

The competition for the Coach of the Month award is also intense, with three coaches, Brian Ssenyondo of Kitara, URA FC’s David Obua, and NEC FC’s Hussein Mbalangu vying for the title.
