Australia’s most adorned Olympian, swimmer Emma McKeon, has retired from the game
The 30-year-old gained six gold medals in a haul of 14 gained throughout three Olympic Video games.
“I’m formally retiring from aggressive swimming,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Main into Paris, I knew it might be my final Olympics, and the months since have given me time to mirror on my journey, and take into consideration what I needed my future to appear like in swimming.
“I’m pleased with myself for giving my swimming profession completely every part, each bodily and mentally.
“I needed to see what I used to be able to – and I did.”
McKeon gained three relay medals and particular person bronze within the 200m freestyle at her first Video games in Rio 2016.
She then gained 4 golds amongst a seven-medal haul at Tokyo 2020. Her 11 medals at that time meant she surpassed an Australian document of 9 medals gained by each Ian Thorpe and Leisel Jones.
