Chelsea have condemned the “abhorrent” on-line racist abuse obtained by defender Wesley Fofana and say that it “is not going to be tolerated”.
On Monday, Fofana, 24, shared to his Instagram story screenshots of six racist messages despatched to him following Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat by Arsenal within the Premier League on Sunday.
Arsenal felt Fofana was lucky to stay on the pitch after committing a number of fouls on the Emirates Stadium.
“Chelsea Soccer Membership is appalled and disgusted by the latest rise in on-line racial abuse in direction of our gamers,” a press release from Chelsea learn.
“The abuse Wes Fofana has been subjected to following yesterday’s fixture is abhorrent and won’t be tolerated.
“Wes and all our gamers have our full assist. We’ll work with the related authorities in figuring out the perpetrators and take the strongest attainable motion.”
