Betpawa sounds the Drum, Big League and Futsal in 1.1BN UGX partnership deal with FUFA

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has entered into a hefty partnership deal with BetPawa Uganda worth 1.1BNUganda Shillings ($320,000 USD). 

The one year partnership announced on Wednesday, 6th September at Fairway Hotel in Kampala will see Betpawa Uganda  become Uganda’s official football partner as they will take up three competitions in the football structures of Uganda.

This will see Betpawa take up the naming rights and sponsorships in the 2023/2024 FUFA Big league whereas the 2023/2024 Futsal League naming rights with also their sponsorships panning to the FUFA Drum where mileage is gauranteed.

The Betpawa and FUFA marriage will see $150,000 USD beef up the FUFA Big league in a breakdown which will also have the FUFA Drum with a share of $150,000 USD as the Futsal League taking a portion of $20,000 USD in their first mega sponsorship deal.

Betpawa is a sports betting platform under Mchezo Africa who are advocating to developing sports across Africa and the managing director Ntoudi Mouyelo expressed his gratitude working with a well organized Association as they are all targeting to develop sports.

The FUFA President, Moses Hassim Magogo, was left amazed by the vision they share with Betpawa as away to develop the game of football in the country despite the difficulties they faced as they dropped some old sponsors to adopt to a new one especially in the Big league.

“This is one of the hard decisions we had to take, as you are all aware the FUFA Big League had its rights sold already, but as the Federation we decided to say that we forego whatever we were getting from that partnership and make sure the Big League is available for engagement with other partners. And here we are today, coming back much bigger and stronger for the support of the FUFA Big League.”

“We started the Fufa Drum, a competition that celebrates our ancestry, it’s a pride for everyone. It’s a competition that has shown us that Ugandans want to consume Ugandan football but we must package it the way they want to consume it.”

There will be a locker room bonus which will be introduced by Betpawa as players on the winning matchday squads will pocket about 150,000 Uganda Shillings at the end of the final whistle directly on the phones.

Hamza Junju the Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) Chairman has promised to deliver alot of talent which will feed the 11 aside teams after hitting the jackpot with a mega first deal.

“I am happy, this is our first time to have a partner on board. And as a member of FUFA and one who has worked with the Federation for the last five or six years, this is a journey we dreamt of. We knew we will reach this side. We didn’t think of money, we wanted to work on the product first and we were clear with the team that we will first do the work then the rest would fall in and this is just the beginning,” said Futsal Association Uganda Chairman Hamza Junju.

Clubs in the Futsal League will also benefit through training kits, matchday kits and Futsal Balls which will help them prepare for the league 

BetPawa’s track record of success in Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda highlights its ability to drive sports growth across Africa. In this new collaboration with FUFA, betPawa is dedicated to developing football infrastructure that benefits local communities and will take up Title Sponsorship of Futsal and the Big League to create an end-to-end football development pathway. The ultimate aspiration is to elevate the standard of football in Uganda.
