University Football League: UCU defeats Kumi University

Kumi University 0-2 UCU University

Mokono based side Uganda Christian University humbled Kumi by a 2-0 score in their opening game in the ongoing University Football League.

UCU University started a better side than Kumi creating goalscoring chances.

This later paid off in in the 16th minute when Isaac Ofoyirwoth broke the deadlock in the 16th minute.

UCU University could score many goals but Peter Kyomuhendo and Enock Ssekandi didn’t travel with their scoring boots.

In the 68th minute, Allan Opio doubled the lead for the visitors and sent fans that had travelled into wide celebrations.

” The Victory gives us confidence going forward. The plan we have is to go back home and prepare for the coming games. We have done through preparations and it’s evident with how the boys are playing” UCU head coach Jimmy Kintu revealed in a post match press conference.

” It’s not easy to win away from home. The boys conducted themselves well and managed to manage the game till the end. It’s been a tough challenge and we shall pick pick the lessons going on” He added.

The results took UCU cardinals in the first place in Group D with three points and two goals.

Other group members, Busitema University and Kampala International University will be taking on each other today.

Meanwhile UCU Cardinals will get back in action on Tuesday as they will be hosting Busitema in Mukono.

It has to be remembered that UCU walked away with Bronze last year
