Kabagambe from Rugby Cranes Exits High-Performance Program in South Africa

Amidst the promising prospects of Uganda Rugby Cranes player Ivan Kabagambe partaking in the high-performance program in South Africa, a hiccup emerged in his journey.

Kabagambe, a talented prop, was gratefully among the seven hand-picked athletes chosen by the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) to participate in the esteemed Blue Bulls Rugby Union program in Pretoria.

Regrettably, after just two weeks, Kabagambe faced unforeseen obstacles that led to his decision to withdraw from the program.

URU’s Chief Executive Officer, Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga, elucidated on the reasons behind Kabagambe’s unexpected departure.

Nsubuga revealed that it primarily stemmed from Kabagambe’s inability to adhere to the high standards and conduct expected of him within the rigorous training environment.

Despite the URU’s consistent support and encouragement, it became evident that Kabagambe was not entirely focused on the program’s objectives.

Consequently, it was deemed best for him to return home to Uganda.

Kabagambe arrived back in Uganda on March 29, marking the end of his sixteen-day absence.

While inquiries to his club, Stanbic Black Pirates, remained unanswered, sources have confirmed that Kabagambe did not rejoin the Bweyogerere-based team.

This unexpected twist in Kabagambe’s journey serves as a learning opportunity, and it is hoped that he will channel this experience towards his personal and professional growth moving forward.
