Youngster Abubaker Mayanja scored a second half double as KCCA FC defeated Wakiso Giants 2-0 to book a slot in the semi-finals of the FUFA Super 8 tournament.
In a slow start of the first half, KCCA FC who were the visitors playing at their home ground in Lugogo suffered a double injury as captain Julius Poloto limped off with a knock as well as Faisal Wabyoona being replaced by Moses Waiswa after a collision with Marvin Nyanzi.
Arafat Usama saw his brilliant header hit the woodwork in the late minutes of first stanza before Bashir Ssekagya claimed a brilliant save to stop Abubaker Mayanja as he reached his far post.
The Kasasiro boys came back stronger in the second stanza as they dominated play and a brilliant build up from Joa Gabriel who set up Etienne Katenga for a cross resulted into an opener headed in by Abubaker Mayanja in the 49th minute as he opened up his account in the yellow colours.
Filbert Obenchan also had a chance to try his luck on goal but his powerful effort was parried away by Bashir Ssekagya for a corner.
Mayanja at the right place in the right time once again raised above Ambrose Arinda to head in the second for KCCA FC as he completed his brace.
KCCA FC’s victory ensures that they now qualify to the semi-finals of the FUFA Supe 8 tournament where they will face URA FC who have claimed a 2-1 win against Bright Stars.
Wakiso will play Bright Stars in the placement game.
